Grief. Get outside.
Days keep coming, and we keep pushing through.
“Get out into nature” to help ground yourself I’ve read SO many times!!
However, this is not always as easy to put into action as it is to say.
Firstly, not everyone lives near nature, especially for people living in the city, and even for those of us living in rural areas, finding “getting into nature” and a beautiful piece of our country can still mean a drive away.
So, let’s make this well-meaning grief help statement, “get out into nature”, a whole lot simpler, and actually achievable.
GET OUTSIDE.
What I mean by this, is to move yourself from the couch, from your bed, from your chair, from the inside of your house, from the inside of your office or anywhere indoors, and move your body outside.
Having a change of scenery is what can help us when our grief rears its head. If the grief won’t move, then we move ourselves.
Even a 10 minute change of scenery can make a difference.
Spending 10 minutes outside in your garden, on your balcony, walking down your street for 50 metres and back… small changes of scenery can move our headspace.
When grief pushes down hard on us and brings a feeling of being stuck, in those moments where it’s all too much, get outside.
