Counselling & Disability Support
Firstly, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry for your loss. Whether you have experienced the death of someone important in your life, or you’re worried about somebody who has, grief can feel incredibly overwhelming, isolating, and difficult to navigate. If you need someone to talk to, guidance around the many practical next steps after a death, or support making sense of life alongside grief, Grief Connect® offers a space where you can find understanding, connection, support, and hope again whilst carrying your loss.
When to Seek Support
The grieving process will look and feel different for everyone. It’s also important to allow yourself the time and space to mourn your loss. A number of factors will determine whether you might seek external help in coping with your grief. There is also nothing wrong with simply feeling like you need someone to talk to. Speaking to someone who is not emotionally involved in your personal situation, can be really helpful.
Who Can Access Support
Individuals & Self Referrals
Support is available for anyone grieving the death of someone important in their life, regardless of relationship, circumstance, or type of loss. Individuals can self-refer to access emotional and practical support whilst navigating life after loss.
People with Disabilities
NDIS self or plan managed participants can access Social Work Therapy Support to build capacity and increase levels of independence. Abilities are embraced to support participation in daily living activities and community.
For Families & Supporters
If someone you care about is grieving and you’re unsure how to support them, counselling can provide practical guidance, service information and confidence to help you support them.
How Counselling Works
Counselling at Grief Connect® offers a compassionate space to explore grief, bereavement, and the impact of losing someone important in your life. Support is guided by your needs and pace, using a person-centred, strengths-based approach focused on emotional wellbeing, hope, and navigating life after loss.
Counselling sessions provide a supportive space to explore grief, bereavement, and the emotional challenges that can come with the death of someone important, across any type of relationship. Support focuses on practical grief management strategies, emotional wellbeing, and navigating day-to-day life alongside loss. Counselling is grounded in a person-centred, strengths-based approach that supports individuals to find hope, build resilience, and move toward a meaningful future whilst carrying grief.
Living with disability can bring significant grief, loss, adjustment, and emotional overwhelm for both individuals and the people supporting them. Grief Connect® provides professional Social Work support under eligible NDIS funding, alongside practical guidance and education for parents, carers, and support networks.
After the death of someone important, many people feel overwhelmed trying to research, Google, and work out which services they actually need whilst already carrying so much emotionally. Grief Connect® helps reduce that stress by providing referrals and guidance toward trusted, high-quality services and supports relevant to grief, counselling, legal matters, estates, practical supports, and day-to-day life after loss.
All services are offered online Australia wide, creating accessible support for people who may feel overwhelmed, isolated, time-poor, or unsure where to start after loss. Support can be accessed from the privacy and comfort of your own space, wherever you are located.
“We get no choice. If we love, we grieve.”
